Kathy Gemmell

Professional editor and published author

Kathy is a professional editor. Her easy, entertaining approach to training is founded on years of experience and a thorough, practical knowledge of the mechanics of language.

Before joining us, she spent 11 years in the publishing industry in the UK – writing, editing and commissioning illustrated reference books – as well as having stints abroad as a freelance editor and teacher. At Emphasis, she runs writing skills training programmes and coaching, as well as consulting on and editing client documents. Kathy also wrote the Emphasis style guide, The Write Stuff, and writes customised versions of the guide for client organisations.

Kathy is fluent in French and is also an experienced translator. She has an MA in French and English.
